Among some of the filler options offered by Baltimore plastic surgeon, Dr. Janet Woodyard, is Belotero. This hyaluronic derma filler injection adds volume and shape to the face and is a popular filler procedure for fine line correction among many practitioners. Hyaluronic acid is a natural hydrator within the skin that slowly depletes as we age. This valuable substance can now be replenished back to the skin through filler products such as Belotero. Due to its special formulation, Belotero contains the unique ability to minimize deep wrinkles and fine lines around the lips, nasolabial folds, creating a softer, more youthful facial appearance. Dr. Woodyard will discuss the benefits of Belotero during the consultation and determine if it is the right filler selection for you.
"I had a breast reduction from Dr. Woodyard over 23 years ago and I must say I am still SO VERY HAPPY. I have watched some of these plastic surgery shows and recently I saw a show dedicated to women that had had complication from a reduction (the horror). I never thought one could have problems with a reduction but wow can you....I had the best results and experience with Dr. Woodyard and never had any complications and to this day my GIRLS are just as perking and looking great as ever. I remember how professional, caring and informative she was. I trusted her completed and I'm so glad she was worth the trust, as I was young and did not ask many questions. I am grateful now and was grateful then..."- A.A. / Google / Mar 21, 2019
"Dr. Woodyard, I sincerely would like to thank you such a kind and patient person and doctor that you are. You make sure that things are understood by the patient and explained thoroughly. Thank you for not being one of many "Stuffy" doctors that we have in healthcare. I would also like to inform you of the professional, very patient and friendly staff. I call the office five times in one day and the hospitality is always the same. They are the poster children of "Customer friendly". I really appreciate you and excited to have experienced you are my doctor."- L / Office Visit / Nov 14, 2017
"Oh, my, I couldn't wait to leave my review for Master Aesthetician, Stacey Edgar; she's a staple to the practice of Janet P. Woodyard Plastic Surgery, where she brings year's of hands on medical aesthetics experience + a precise eye for beauty. Stacey performed the winning combination therapy of DERMAPLANE Pro + VI PEEL on me, and my results were out-of-this-world. No downtime; the procedure was just what my congested skin needed for the ultimate GLOW. -- Wendy (APPROVED)"- W.P. / Google / Jan 14, 2021
"I've been with Stacey for many years and she is the best. I've never hesitated to take her advice on skin care. One very impressive thing she does is experience the procedures she offers and can discuss first hand the treatment and outcome from her personal view."- S.G. / Google / Jan 04, 2021
"I started my skin care journey with Stacey roughly 2 years ago. Honesty, I’m so proud of this decision. She creates regimens that cater to your skin needs. Consistency is key— 50% Stacey and 50% you = RESULTS."- T.B. / Google / Jan 02, 2021
Belotero is administered during an in-office appointment that typically takes about 30-60 minutes. The injection treatment, including the number of syringes used and injection locations and technique, is tailored during the procedure to fulfill the patient’s specific needs. The injection is given through a syringe to localized areas on the face. Pain or discomfort can be effectively controlled with the application of a topical anesthetic that is applied in the office just prior to the procedure.
What To Expect
Immediately following a Belotero injection, mild swelling and redness at the injection site are usual. This will subside a few hours after the procedure. Patients can resume their normal activities immediately, but exercise should be avoided for a few hours. Bruising may also occur but can usually be concealed with the proper make up. Results following the injection will become apparent immediately and usually last approximately 6 or more months. After the procedure, skin will appear younger and restored.
The average cost per Belotero treatment is $600 per syringe. However, cost will vary depending upon how much of the filler is used to obtain the desired result. The number of syringes needed varies; some patients may only need 1 syringe while others may require 2 or more. How Does It Compare?
There are many reputable fillers on the market today, each with their set of benefits. While several filler products comprised of hyaluronic acid exist, Belotero works a bit differently to interact with the mid-to-deep dermis for correction of moderate-to-severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds (laugh lines). The differences between the hyaluronic fillers can be discussed during the initial consultation.
Is It Safe?
Yes. Belotero is an FDA procedure that has undergone extensive tests to validate its efficacy and safety.
Botox or Filler?
Belotero, as well as many other injectable fillers, offer a similar result as what may be achieved through BOTOX, but the approach is different. Injectable fillers help to decrease wrinkles by adding volume to certain facial structures that look deflated due to aging or weight loss. By adding volume, the skin’s surface appears fuller and smoother. BOTOX temporarily freezes the underlying facial muscles, allowing them to relax which causes the skin’s surface to appear softer and smoother. A skilled practitioner will be able to determine which procedure would garner the best results.
